Tartan Information

The Black Watch tartan, originally designated for the Highland Companies in 1725 and later for the Black Watch regiment in 1739, is based on the Sutherland tartan. Historical records indicate its use by the Earl of Sutherland in 1719 and by the Gordons in the early 17th century. Today, it is considered a fashion tartan and can be worn by anyone.
